When Was Running Invented? Know Who Invented Running!

Hey guys! Today we are going to talk about when running was invented!! People are so eager to know everything about running because it is the basic thing that comes to mind when it comes to exercise. Running is considered one of the best core exercises a person can do without injury. So, let’s dive in to learn more about running.

When Was Running Invented?

Have you ever wondered when and who actually invented running?? Of course this was a long time ago since running was not actually invented, we can trace the history of running through the ages.

Walking was “invented” long before early humans evolved from primates about seven million years ago. They began to convert from tree climbing to bipedalism. Australopithecus fossils show that humans walked upright before the development of stone tools about four million years ago.

According to sources, fossil records and physical characteristics suggest that humans started running at least two million years ago.

Who Invented Running

Well, it’s not easy to tell who invented running! According to a Twitter post, Thomas Running invented running, which is actually not the case. Thomas Running is just one social media invention riding the trend of funny posts poking fun at the idea that invention happens when someone tries to do two things at the same time.

Who Invented Running

History Of Running

Running was “invented” long before primitive humans evolved from primates and tree climbing began the transition to bipedalism, the term used to refer to species running on two legs.

Australopithecus – an ape-like animal thought to be the ancestor of humans – fossils show that our earliest ancestors walked upright before developing stone tools, research has shown.

Type of Running

Below are some of the most basic running types!!

Recovery Running

It is a relatively short run at an easy pace. Recovery running serves to add a small amount of benefit to a runner’s training without detracting from performance in harder, more critical workouts.

Progressive Running

It is a race that begins at a runner’s natural pace and ends with faster portions of anywhere from marathon to 10K pace. These runs are generally moderately challenging—harder than base runs but easier than most threshold and interval runs.

Base Running

This type of running is a run of short to medium length at a runner’s natural pace. While individual base runs are not challenging, they are often doable, and overall they encourage major improvements in aerobic capacity, stamina and running economy.

Long Running

Generally, a long run is a base race that lasts long enough to leave a runner moderately to severely fatigued. The main goal of long runs is to increase raw endurance. The distance required to achieve this effect will of course depend on your current stamina level.
